LEXINGTON, VA - The John Jay rifle team traveled south to take part in a non-conference competition against VMI and UAB on Saturday, but came up short against both squads.

UAB had a total score of 4571 to finish in first place, while VMI scored 4520 to take second. The Bloodhounds scored 4242 to finish third. 

Eric Lopez was John Jay's leading shooter, scoring 542 in the airgun and 533 in smallborne. 

Quinn Hennessey shot a new personal best in the airgun woith a score of 552. 

This weekend, the team will travel to Norwich U for a conference heads-up match in both guns on Saturday. Then, on Sunday the team will go to MIT to shoot against SUNY Plattsburgh for a conference heads-up along with MIT.
