Brooklyn, NY - The John Jay women's swimming team earned two victories on Thursday, defeating CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) rival Brooklyn, 55-34, and earning a 50-37 triumph over Purchase College at the West Quad Poll.
In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the quartet of
Kira Englenton,
Anika Amdahl,
Cami Achury, and
Miranda Perez touched the wall first with a time of 2:20.85. The Bloodhounds secured another first-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, as
Diana Castellanos, Amdahl, Achury, and Perez clocked in with a time of 2:01.84.
Julia Murray,
Adriana Guzman,
Daisy Hernandez, and Englenton finished third in the event with a time of 2:29.79.
Individually, Perez took top honors in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 26.78.
Erica Figueroa placed fifth with a time of 39.99. Achury posted a time of 1:11.55 in the 100 Yard Butterfly finishing first.
Other notable performances by the Bloodhounds in the tri-meet include:
- In the 200 Yard IM, Murray turned in a time of 3:29.40 while placing second in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 8:28.74.
- Castellanos posted a time of 1:17.24 in the 100 Yard Free.
- Hernandez and Guzman clocked in with times of 1:49.87 and 1:52.72, respectively, in the 100 Yard Backstroke.
- Amdahl hit the wall in 1:28.73 in the 100 Yard Breaststroke to place second rounding out the performances for the Bloodhounds.
John Jay returns home on Tuesday, January 17 when they will host Lehman and York in a CUNYAC Tri-Meet at 6:00 p.m. Before the start of the meet, John Jay will recognize the 2023 Senior Class.
