New York, NY - The John Jay women's swimming team earned their first win of the season, defeating Brooklyn College, 56-40, in a CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) meet at the John Jay College Pool.
John Jay (1-1; 1-1 CUNYAC) won seven individual events on the evening.
Newcomer
Grace Driver took home top honors in both the 1000 Yard Freestyle, touching the wall in 15:09.56 and the 500 Yard Freestyle, posting a time of 7:33.19.
Miranda Perez secured two individuals wins and swam second as part of the 200 Yard Medley Relay that posted a finals time of 2:07.22. Joining her as part of the quartet was
Andreea Gheorghe,
Cami Achury, and
Victoria Hapsis.
Perez took first-place in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 58.89 while placing first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, completing the race in 1:16.01.
Gheorghe swam lead in the 200 Yard Medley but also turned in a first-place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke, clocking in at 1:13.76.
Other notable results from Thursday's meet include:
- The "B" 200 Yard Medley Relay of Luciana Uriarte, Gloria Glenn, Rina Yamamoto and Anna Moody posting a time of 2:29.66
- Hapsis and Achury finished second and third in the 50 Yard Freestyle with times of 28.26 and 28.79, respectively.
- Anna Moody took first in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:35.83.
- Achury claimed first in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:17.69 while Yamamoto was next at 1:33.72.
The Bloodhounds will continue their CUNYAC swim schedule as they will head to Jamaica, NY on November 29, as they will take on the York College Cardinals at 6:00 p.m.
