Jamaica, NY - The men's tennis program cruised to an 8-1 victory over York College on Tuesday afternoon. The Bloodhounds improve to 1-1 on the season and 1-0 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Cardinals drop to 0-2 overall.
At top doubles, the duo of freshmen
Hamad Alobeidlli and
Qudus Kolapo did not drop a game for an 8-0 win. At No. 2, the tandem of junior
Rezwanul Haque and freshman
Samir Ghimire also cruised to an 8-0 victory. Heading into singles play, John Jay led 2-1.
The Bloodhounds swept all six singles matches. Ghimire (#2) and freshman
Johann Stoll (#5) both won 6-0, 6-0. Alobeidlli came out on top in the first spot by a score of 6-2, 6-1. In the final position, senior
Terrel Rowe picked up a 6-0, 2-6, 6-1 victory.
The Bloodhounds travel to Manhattanville College on Thursday, March 23, for a non-conference match. First serve is set for 4:00 pm.
