New York, NY - The CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Softball Player of the Week award remains on the left side of the John Jay softball infield. Sophomore third baseman Maleea Gallaspy was named CUNYAC Player of the Week for the second time this season, after earning the weekly nod back on March 13.

This marks the second straight week that the Bloodhounds, who finished with a 3-3 record over the six-game span, have taken home the weekly honor after Rylea Sandel garnered the award last week.

Gallaspy collected 15 hits, nine of which going for doubles while scoring a team-high six runs. She amassed a total OPS (on-base + slugging percentage) of 1.723, highlighted by slugging a robust 1.043 over the six games this week.

In game one on the road at the University of Saint Joseph's, the Murrieta, CA native went 3 for 4 with two doubles while scoring a run. In the second game, Gallaspy added her third double of the day while driving in an RBI.

Two days later at Eastern Nazarene, she combined to go 7 for 8 in the twinbill, while going 4 for 4 in the opener with two doubles and recording an RBI in each contest.

In the highly anticipated rematch of last season's CUNYAC title game, the second-year corner infielder went 1 for 3 with her seventh double of the week. In the nightcap, she was the driving force in the mercy-rule win, going 3 for 3 with three runs scored and adding two more doubles.

Through games played on April 13, Gallaspy leads the nation in doubles with 23 and is fourth in the country in total hits with 54. Additionally, she ranks in the top-20 in RBIs with 33 and is among the top-40 in slugging percentage at .817.

Gallaspy and the Bloodhounds return to the field on Friday, April 21, as they will travel to Bellerose, NY to tangle with York College at Padavan-Preller Field.

First-pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
