Softball's Maleea Gallaspy Earns Third CUNYAC Player of the Week Award

New York, NY -  For the second straight week, John Jay sophomore infielder Maleea Gallaspy was named CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon. 
 
For the Murrieta, CA native, it is the third time this season that she has garnered the award.
 

 
One of the top hitters in the circuit and in the nation, Gallaspy continues her torrid stretch at the plate, notching a .833 batting average in the two games against conference-foe, York, this past weekend. 
 
In going 5 for 6, she scored a team-leading six runs while posting a total OPS of 1.889, highlighted by a slugging percentage of 1.000. 
 
She ranks seventh in the country in batting average, connecting at a .527 clip, while leading all Division III players with 26 doubles. Additionally, her 63 hits this season rank fourth nationally, and rapidly approaching 100 for her career, entering this week with 88. 

The second-year Bloodhound ranks among the top 20 in on-base percentage at .561 and among the top-25 in slugging percentage at a robust .836. Gallaspy is among the top 40 in runs per game at 1.19. 
 
Gallaspy and the Bloodhounds gear up for their final regular-season home games on Friday, April 28, as they will host Lehman College at 4:00 p.m. from Bahoshy Field on the campus of Fordham University.
