Dan Ostberg Named Strength & Conditioning Coach | Fitness Center Manager

New York, NY - John Jay Director of Athletics and Recreation Cat Alves announced the hiring of Dan Ostberg as Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.
 
In addition to his role as Head Strength & Conditioning coach, Ostberg will serve as the Fitness Center Manager. 
 
"We are excited to welcome Dan to our Bloodhound athletic family," commented Alves. "Dan has a strong commitment to supporting student-athletes as well as a proven track record of helping them develop to their highest potential in all areas which will add to their overall experience here at John Jay." 
 
Ostberg joins the Bloodhounds after serving the last two years at Division I member, St. Francis Brooklyn of the Northeast Conference. He was elevated to Head Strength and Conditioning Coach to begin the 2022-23 campaign, and oversaw the strength and conditioning programs for all of the Terriers student-athletes while providing gameday support at all home competitions.

"I want to thank athletic director Cat Alves and the entire Bloodhound staff for believing in me and giving me an opportunity and I look forward to working with all the student-athletes and teams here to help raise the bar of success."  
 
A native of Audubon, NJ, Ostberg spent a year working with the Protec Jr. Ducks, a Tier III Junior Hockey Program that is based in Somerset, NJ and competes in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). He also served as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the United States Olympics and Paralympics Committee before joining Protec Jr., working closely with the USA Indoor Volleyball teams in 2020. 
 
In 2018-19, he worked at Ivy League member, Princeton University, working closely with the men's volleyball and men's & women's rugby programs. The Tigers' men's volleyball team won the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) conference, the first conference title for Princeton in two decades. 
 
Ostberg is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSC) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach and a Certified Functional Strength and Conditioning Coach (CFSC) Level 1 through Michael Boyle Strength and Conditioning (MBSC). 
 
He received a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science and Sports Studies from Rutgers University - New Brunswick in 2015 and obtained his Masters of Science in Recreation and Sports Sciences from Ohio University in 2016.
