Men's Soccer Blanked By WestConn On Monday Evening In Non-Conference Finale

Danbury, CT - The John Jay men's soccer team fell to the WestConn Wolves, 8-0, on Monday evening in a non-conference match. With the setback, the Bloodhounds falter to 2-5 on the season while the Wolves move to 6-1-2.

WestConn nearly scored three minutes into the contest as Eduardo Vargas' header bounced off the crossbar.

On John Jay's first possession of the match, Daniel Rosa established his footing and booted a shot attempt that was blocked by a WestConn defender.

WestConn controlled the tempo of the contest while testing John Jay's goalkeeper, Arthur Langlet. Chance Campbell had a chance in the 11' minute but Langlet stopped that for his first save on the night.

Moments later, the Wolves took a corner kick as Kent Eannarino booted the ball into the box that was controlled by Jeffrey Norales. Norales spotted Kadin Talho, who beat Langlet to give WestConn the early 1-0 lead.

John Jay fought back, as Brayan Alvarez blasted a chance but was denied by Matthew Silva. Alvarez took the corner kick for John Jay but the Bloodhounds were called offsides.

The Wolves struck again in the 24' as Nunez received the feed from Jacob Burdick and buried the chance past Langlet, pushing the lead to 2-0.

John Jay nearly got on the board as Kevin Luciano had a chance to put the Bloodhounds on the board, but his opportunity sailed high over the goal in the 27'.

WestConn's Talho netted his second goal of the match in the 31' as Damian Reyes found him inside the box for the score. The home team tacked one more score just before the intermission, as Maximus Vigo netted the goal with Joao Gavilanes being credited with the assist.

When play resumed for the second half, the Wolves scored a pair of goals within a two minute span, as Kent Eannarino and Campbell extended the WestConn lead.

In the 59', Talho completed his hat trick, as the Wolves led by seven. Vigo rounded out the scoring for WestConn, his second of the match in the 66'.

The Bloodhounds will open CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play on Wednesday, September 27, as they will take on Hunter on Randall's Island - Field 70.
