Bronx, NY - The John Jay women's swimming team earned their third CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) victory on Tuesday evening, as the Bloodhounds defeated the Lehman College Lightning, 104-64, at the APEX Swimming Pool.
With the victory, the Bloodhounds even up their overall record to 4-4 while moving to 3-2 in the league while the Lightning falters to 2-7 and 0-4 in conference meets.
In total, John Jay won seven meets. The 200 Yard Medley Relay team of
Andreea Gheorghe,
Gloria Glenn,
Luciana Uriarte, and
Rina Yamamoto clocked in with a time of 2:26.30. Grace Drive and
Julia Murray took the 1000 Yard Freestyle, with Driver posting a time of 15:44.07 while Murray checked in at 17:50.17.
Miranda Perez,
Anna Moody and
Katherine Sacgalindo swept the 50 Yard Freestyle event, with Perez posting a finals time of 26.68. Moody finished in 29.09 followed by Sacgalindo at 41.37.
Cami Achury and Uriarte finished back-to-back in the 200 Yard IM, as Achury touched the wall in 2:44.11 while Uriarte concluded the race in 2:51.10. Achury posted her second top finish of the meet, as she finished the 100 Yard Freestyle in 58.50. Moody took third in the event with a time of 1:04.41. Gheorghe paced the Bloodhounds in the 100 Yard Backstroke, posting a top-time of 1:16.83. She also finished second overall in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:19.72.
Other notable performances from John Jay's road win at Lehman include:
- Victoria Hapsis and Yamamoto placed second and third in the 200 Yard Freestyle, with Hapsis finishing the event in 2:25.62 followed by Yamamoto in 2:52.78.
- Moody and Hapsis were among the top-four to finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle, as Moody touched the wall in 1:04.41 with Hapsis clocking in at 1:05.71.
- Moody finished second in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 6:26.38.
- Sacgalindo concluded the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:48.78 while teammate Adriana Guzman clocked in at 1:49.57.
The Bloodhounds will take their final road trip of the regular season on Saturday, January 20 as they will compete in their lone tri-meet of the season, as they will face the host Ramapo College and fellow CUNYAC member, Baruch, at noon from the Adele & Reuben Thomas Pool.
