Men's Tennis Falls To Brooklyn In Conference Play On Monday Afternoon

Jamaica, NY - The John Jay men's tennis team was defeated by the Brooklyn College Bulldogs, 8-1, on Monday afternoon from the York College Tennis Courts. 

With the loss, the Bloodhounds fall to 2-7 on the season and 2-2 in CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play. The Bulldogs move to 8-6 overall and 4-1 in league contests. 

Nikita Sadounichy, the newly-minted CUNYAC Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week, was paired with AJ Esperanza in No. 1 as the duo fell to Ryan Sham and Craig Pazarecki, 8-2. 

The Bulldogs posted a pair of 8-1 triumphs at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to go up 3-0 in the overall match.  John Jay got their lone win in singles at No. 1 after the Bulldogs yielded a total of seven points between No. 2 and No. 6. 

Sadounichy improved to 8-0 in singles competition, 3-0 in conference matches as he got past Sham, 6-3, 6-2 in a thrilling battle at No. 1 play. 

John Jay will be back in action on Wednesday, April 24, as the team takes on Hunter College at the USTA National Tennis Center. 

First-serve is set for 3:00 p.m.
