Women's Swimming Posts Pair Of Victories At Mount Saint Mary Quad Meet On Saturday Morning

Newburgh, NY - The John Jay women's swim team swam in their final non-conference meet of the 2024-25 season on Saturday afternoon as they competed against Mount Saint Mary, SUNY-Delhi, and Purchase College at the Kaplan Center Pool on the campus of MSMC.

The Bloodhounds fell to the host Knights, 103-67, but earned a 110-57 triumph over Purchase and a 112-34 victory over SUNY-Delhi.

The 200y Medley Relay team, comprised of Victoria Hapsis, Miranda Perez, Luciana Uriarte, and Brianna Torres, turned in a time of 2:09.90, setting a new season-high in the event while touching the wall in first place. Hapsis placed first overall in the 200y Freestyle, touching the wall in 2:20.83.

Grace Driver took second in the 1000y Freestyle, posting a time of 15:29.59. She also competed in the 500Y Freestyle, concluding the race with a time of 7:34.76.

In her first singles event as a member of the Bloodhounds, Torres swam in the 50Y Freestyle, finishing fourth with a time of 29.88.

Gloria Glenn and Rina Yamamoto represented John Jay in the 200y IM as Glenn clocked in at 3:03.39 while Yamamoto placed fourth at 3:07.73. Two swimmers from John Jay swam in the 100Y Butterfly as Uriarte turned in a time of 1:19.42 to finish second while Katherine Sacgalindo finished in 1:45.18.

Miranda Perez posted a second-place finish in the 100Y Freestyle, finishing with a season-best in the event, 58.75. Torres was fourth at 1:05.16. She also took second in the 100Y Breaststroke at 1:15.83.

Yamamoto competed in the 100Y Backstroke, turning in a second-place performance with a time of 1:23.92.

In the meet's final race, the Bloodhounds finished second to the host Knights in the 200Y Freestyle Relay, as the quartet of Yamamoto, Driver, Glenn, and Uriarte posted a time of 2:09.55.

John Jay will get set for their regular season finale on Thursday, January 23, as they will host conference rival Lehman on Senior Night.

The meet is slated for a 6:00 p.m. start.
