Wehr’s Hat Trick Powers Women’s Soccer To 4-0 Home Triumph On Senior Day Against CCNY On Saturday Morning

New York, NY – Sophomore forward Anna Wehr scored her first career hat trick and senior Emma Fisher added a goal as the defending CUNYAC women's soccer champions celebrated Senior Day with a 4-0 shutout over the visiting City College of New York (CCNY) Beavers on Saturday morning.

The win extended John Jay's unbeaten conference run to 3-0 and improved the Bloodhounds to 8-2-3 while the Beavers dropped to 2-7-2 (1-1 CUNYAC).

Before the start of today's contest, the program recognized its six seniors: tri-captains Daniela Vazquez and Sofia Astarbi, Tallulah Nemet-Sargent, Keira Kepets, Jerlynn Castillo, and Emma Fisher.

John Jay controlled much of the tempo in the first half. Two minutes into the contest, senior honorees Astarbi and Nemet-Sargent launched shot attempts, with Nemet-Sargent's finding its way on target as Laila Issa was there for the stop.

In the 13', Fisher sent a shot from the right side that Issa made the stop. Three minutes later, Vazquez rocketed an attempt from just atop the box that Issa stopped.
In the 23rd, Castillo booted a chance that Issa was able to turn aside. The next minute, the Bloodhounds broke through as Wehr found space in the box and pushed one past the keeper, completing the assist from Natalie Mack.

A minute later, Wehr struck again, making a quick move on the CCNY keeper, and finished with a clear path to the bottom left of the goal, giving John Jay a 2-0 lead.

The Bloodhounds pelted six more shot attempts before the conclusion of the first half, with Wehr nearly completing the hat-trick in the first half, but her chance was stopped. John Jay held a 14-1 edge in shot attempts during the first half, while sending nine shots on target and keeping the Beavers without a chance on goal over the first 45 minutes.

The Bloodhounds continued with the pressure and were rewarded in the 56th minute as Fisher netted her second goal of the season and 14th of her career after getting the feed from Mack and Nemet-Sargent.

Wehr completed her first-ever hat trick in the 73rd minute, as Zoe Specht sent a long through ball as the Baldwin, NY native went 1v1 with the goalkeeper, sending a shot to the bottom right of the goal as John Jay extended its lead to 4-0.

The Bloodhounds will close out the 2025 regular season on Wednesday, October 22, as they travel to York for a 3:00 p.m. kickoff.
