No. 3 Seed Men's Soccer Falls In Penalty Kicks, 4-3, To No. 6 Seed CCNY In CUNYAC Quarterfinals

New York, NY - The No. 3 seed John Jay College men's soccer team battled for 110 minutes with the No. 6 seed CCNY Beavers in the CUNYAC Quarterfinal round on Wednesday evening.

Both teams scored in the second half and couldn't decide a winner after two 10-minute overtime periods.


With John Jay up 2-1 in penalty kicks, sophomore goalkeeper Davio Rossilevin made the stop on Kernell Melius' attempt. Following a missed attempt by the Bloodhounds, Konstantinos Psomaras pushed one past Rossilevin as CCNY advanced to the semifinals with a 4-3 win in PKs.

John Jay finishes the season at 5-10-2 and 4-2-1 in league play while the Beavers, who move to 1-9-5 and 1-3-2 in CUNYAC action, advance to play the No. 2 seed Baruch on Saturday.

After a stalemate in the first half, the Bloodhounds notched the first goal of the contest in the 54th minute when tri-captain Josh Clemas scored to give John Jay a 1-0 lead. The Beavers answered back in the 75th minute as Aliou Ndiaye converted to even the score at 1-1.

An additional 20 minutes couldn't decide a winner, and the two teams headed for penalty kicks.

The Bloodhound outshot CCNY, 24-16, with 12 shots finding their way on target. Rossilevin was credited with four saves while his counterpart, Rudy Guttierrez, made ten stops.
