Jamaica, NY - For the second straight season and fifth time overall, the John Jay women's soccer team hoisted up the CUNYAC Women's Soccer title, as the top-seeded Bloodhounds defeated the No. 3 seed, CCNY Beavers, 3-0, at the York College Outdoor Athletic Complex on Saturday morning.
For the fifth time in the last six years, John Jay will head to the NCAA Division III Tournament and will find out its destination during Monday's selection show, scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
The Bloodhounds finished the 2025 regular season with an 11-2-3 overall mark, while CCNY fell to 4-8-3.
Junior defender
Sofia Soler netted two goals and an assist en route to being named Championship Most Valuable Player.
The Bloodhounds scored twice in a span of 4:37 in the first half to jump out to a 2-0 lead. In the 16th minute, junior tri-captain
Katy Shurson received the feed from Soler, who drilled a long right-to-left strike from the corner. Shurson booted one off a CCNY defender and past the Beavers' goalkeeper, Laila Issa, to put John Jay ahead.
In the 20', the defending champions were awarded a penalty kick that Soler stepped up and buried for the 2-0 lead.
Soler put the finishing touches on John Jay's fifth CUNYAC crown with ten seconds left in the contest, getting the feed from
Emma Fisher as the Bloodhounds increased its lead to 3-0.
John Jay outshot CCNY, 17-8, as
Anina Gut made four saves to post her fourth clean sheet of the season. Issa made six stops for the visiting Beavers.
