Women's Cross Country Competes At Queensborough Invitational

Bronx, NY - The John Jay College women's cross country team returned to Van Cortlandt Park on Sunday, competing in the 2026 Queensborough Cross Country Invitational. 

The Bloodhounds finished 15th in the 17-team field, recording 367 points over the five-kilometer course. John Jay's five scoring runners combined for a time of 2:34:15 and averaged 30:51.

Junior Alexa Guzman paced the Bloodhounds, crossing the finish line in 26:32.5. Senior Manuela Orrego was John Jay's second finisher, completing the course in 28:24.9.

Juniors Shellbie Johnson and Laisha Gomez crossed the finish line less than five seconds apart. Johnson finished with a time of 30:26.6, while Gomez followed in 30:31.0.

Senior Litzy Hernandez rounded out John Jay's scoring five, posting a time of 38:20.7.

The College of Staten Island captured the team title with 81 points and a combined time of 1:54:47, edging Fashion Institute of Technology, which finished second with 83 points. Hunter College placed third with 95 points.

Staten Island sophomore Adriana Roa won the individual title, completing the 5K course in 20:22.5.

The Bloodhounds will compete at as part of a four-team quad, which will be hosted by Pratt Institute in Prospect Park on Wednesday, October 7.
