Union, NJ - The John Jay softball team dropped its Saturday home twinbill to the visiting Ramapo College Roadrunners, 6-1 and 15-0, on Saturday from Cougar Softball Field on the campus of Kean University.

The Bloodhounds fall to 4-6 on the season while Ramapo moves to 2-0 after opening its season on Saturday afternoon.
Game 1 | John Jay 1, Ramapo 6
The Bloodhounds struck first, but Ramapo scored three times in the third inning and tacked on a run in the fifth and two more in the seventh to pull away, 6-1.
Alyssa Cadolino and
Kendal Bryant each had a hit for the Bloodhounds in the contest.
Lindsay Ogden (2-4) went the full seven innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on nine hits while walking two and striking out six batters.
Ramapo's Avery Kontura, Hannah Hensler, and Lia Milsom each had two hits, with Kontura driving in two RBIs. Gabby Morgan earned the win after firing off six innings of two-hit ball, not allowing an earned run while walking two and striking out two. Brooke Knight came on in relief, recording a strikeout.
Cadolino sent a two-out single to left in the bottom of the first. Bryant followed with a hard-lining single to third, as Cadolino moved to third on an overthrow by the third baseman. A walk to
Kelly Fajardo loaded the bases before Cadolino scored on a throwing error by the catcher.
The visitors scored three runs in the top of the third to claim a 3-1 lead. Aimee Notaro led off with a double to right center. Milsom reached on an infield single to third. Kori Gargiulo singled through the left side to score Notaro. The next batter, Kontura, doubled and moved to third on the throw as she brought in Gargiulo and Milsom.
Ramapo added to its lead in the top of the fifth as Clay'le Correa-Vanness flew out to right, but an overthrow by Santana allowed Milsom to score on the play. The Roadrunners tacked on two runs in the top of the seventh for a 6-1 lead as Correa-Vanness sent an RBI grounder to second before Hensler doubled to right center.Â
Game 2 | John Jay 0, Ramapo 15 (5 innings)
In the second game, the Bloodhounds mustered just two hits as the Roadrunners broke the game open with 14 runs over the final three innings for the 15-0 win.
Cadolino and Bankston had a hit each.
Natalie Graham (1-2) allowed nine runs (five earned) on ten hits.
Ramapo had six players connect for two hits, with Paley Sullivan leading the way with six RBIs as she connected on two home runs. Gargiulo, Hensler, and Notaro chipped in two RBIs each.Â
Mikayla McJilton earned the win, throwing four scoreless innings. Knight relieved McJilton and added two strikeouts in the win for Ramapo.
The Bloodhounds travel to FDU-Florham on Wednesday, March 11, for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.Â
