Union, NJ - The John Jay softball team delivered a dominant doubleheader performance on Friday afternoon and evening, sweeping Lehman in CUNYAC action behind a historic outing from
Lindsay Ogden and a complete all-around effort from
Adrianna Barragan.

The Bloodhounds opened with a 13-0 run-rule victory before closing out the sweep with a 9-1 win at Cougar Softball Field.
With the two victories, John Jay improves to 11-20 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while Lehman falls to 1-17 overall and 0-6 in the CUNYAC.
Game 1: John Jay 13, Lehman 0 (5 innings)
John Jay wasted no time asserting control in the opener, erupting for seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looking back.
Kelly Fajardo ignited the offense with a leadoff single, stolen base, and run scored, while
Kendal Bryant (3-for-3, 2 RBI, double) delivered an RBI single to begin a relentless offensive surge.
Natalie Polanco,
Kayla Sauers, and
Adrianna Barragan each contributed RBI singles in the frame, as the Bloodhounds capitalized on Lehman miscues and added runs via a wild pitch and a fielder's choice to take a commanding 7-0 lead.
Sauers finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and a stolen base, while Barragan went 2-for-2 with two RBI as John Jay's lineup produced from top to bottom.
In the circle,
Lindsay Ogden was untouchable. The right-hander fired a five-inning no-hitter, allowing just one walk while striking out 10, recording two-thirds of her outs via strikeout and completely silencing the Lightning lineup.
The Bloodhounds extended their lead in the third inning with a five-run outburst.
Samantha Santana sparked the rally, scoring one of her three runs after reaching base multiple times and swiping two bags. Sauers and Barragan added RBI hits, Fajardo plated a run on an error, and
Natalie Graham ripped an RBI double before Bryant capped the inning with another RBI single to push the margin to 12-0.
Fajardo finished 2-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base, while Graham added a double and RBI.
John Jay added its final run in the fourth inning when Fajardo delivered another RBI single to score Santana, sealing the 13-0 run-rule victory.
Defensively, the Bloodhounds committed just one error, while Lehman's three miscues contributed to multiple unearned runs. The Lightning pitching duo of Damaris Adames and Kiara Garcia combined to allow 13 runs (four earned) on 12 hits.
Game 2: John Jay 9, Lehman 1
Lehman struck first in the nightcap, as Patty Sanchez scored on an RBI single by Nicolle Swierczek in the top of the first inning to give the Lightning an early 1-0 edge.
John Jay responded immediately in the bottom half. Fajardo worked a leadoff walk, stole second, and came around to score on an RBI single from
Natalie Graham (2-for-3, RBI, SB), tying the game at 1-1.
The Bloodhounds took control in the second inning with aggressive baserunning and timely execution. Sauers reached, stole third, and scored, while Barragan created pressure on the bases.
Kiki Iglesias delivered a key two-RBI groundout, and another run crossed on a wild pitch to give John Jay a 4-1 lead.
In the third, the offense continued to roll.
Alyssa Cadolino reached base before Sauers recorded her second hit. Polanco followed with an RBI single, and Barragan delivered an RBI triple to extend the lead to 6-1.
Sauers finished a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs scored and a stolen base, while Polanco added a hit, RBI, and walk.
Barragan took over from there. After allowing the first-inning run, the right-hander settled in and dominated, tossing a complete game while allowing just one run on four hits and one walk, shutting down Lehman over the final four innings.
John Jay put the game out of reach in the fifth inning. Santana and Sauers reached base, and Polanco drew a walk to load the bases. Barragan delivered the decisive blow, ripping a bases-clearing double to center field to plate three runs and extend the lead to 9-1.
Barragan finished 2-for-3 with four RBI, adding a triple and double to cap a standout all-around performance.
Fajardo reached base three times and scored twice, while Bryant chipped in a hit as part of John Jay's eight-hit attack. The Bloodhounds' speed was again on display, with multiple stolen bases from Fajardo, Graham, Sauers, and Barragan.
Defensively, both teams committed one error, but John Jay's execution and situational hitting proved to be the difference. Adames took the loss for Lehman, allowing nine runs (six earned) over 4.1 innings.
The Bloodhounds make their final road trip of the season on Friday, April 24 as they travel to York for a 2:30 p.m. start.Â
