John Dobkowski

John Dobkowski is in his first season as assistant coach / pitching coach of the baseball team at John Jay College.

Despite serving in his first season, Dobkowski is no stranger to the John Jay baseball program. He was a four year letter-winning pitcher for the Bloodhounds from 2004-07, which included John Jay’s conference championship in his senior year.

While a student-athlete, Dobkowski was the ace of the staff all four seasons. As a junior he recorded 12 wins, second most in the NCAA that season, and overall recorded 30 career wins, a John Jay record.

He was named team Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2005 en route to being named a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) second team All-Star, and was the CUNYAC Pitcher of the Year in 2006. In 2007 he was a CUNYAC first team All-Star once again and was named the John Jay Male Athlete of the Year.

Dobkowski was also a recipient of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Merit Award, an honor awarded to four year seniors who have maintained at least a 2.5 grade point average. Additionally Dobkowski was one of two members of the John Jay baseball team selected to visit Italy for the CUNYAC’s annual Goodwill Tour, a tour in which selected members of each baseball team within the conference visit a foreign country to serve as an ambassador for a select sport.

Dobkowski is currently working toward his bachelor’s degree. He is a Criminal Justice major with a minor in Law.

In addition Dobkowski is employed as a security officer at Yankee Stadium. He is also active in the community assisting head coach Dan Palumbo in conducting various baseball camps during the summer.

Dobkowski attended Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, N.Y. where he was a member of the boy’s baseball and basketball teams and was named Most Improved Player of the junior varsity basebal team in 2001.
