Tom White

Tom White has been named the head coach of the rifle program at John Jay College of Criminal Justice effective January 2019, Director of Athletics Carol Kashow has announced.

White comes to the Upper West Side after serving as the head coach at rival Maritime College since 2011.

During the 2017-18 season, Maritime's smallbore team captured the Sharpshooter Division Championship with a 2033-1993 victory over Plattsburgh. In 2016-17, White led the squad to a pair of championships in each discipline. In total, he recorded six MAC Championships with the Privateers.

White was named the MAC Coach of the Year in his first season as he resurrected the .22 caliber air rifle program to Maritime after a 10-year hiatus.

He has been a competitive shooter for over 40 years. He was an All-Westchester County four-year shooter at Ossining High School. He then received a full four-year athletic scholarship to Division I St. John's University.

While at St. John's, the Redmen reached the Top 10 nationally and made three NCAA championship appearances. He was later named an assistant coach at St. John's, where he worked for 10 years.

White replaces legendary head coach Vince Maiorino, who retired from the college in December 2018. He led the program for 17 seasons and guided the Bloodhounds to a school-best 14 MAC Championships.
