Cassandra Taylor embarks on her fifth season on the John Jay women's basketball staff and her first as associate head coach, starting in 2022-23. 

Taylor is heavily involved in all aspects of the women's basketball program. Among her day-to-day responsibilities, Coach Taylor spearheads the defensive schemes, and film breakdown, and runs the individual workouts. Off the court, she is instrumental in the team's social media presence. 

A John Jay alum and former team captain, the Philadelphia, PA native averaged close to 14.0 points per game, 2.0 assists, and 6.3 rebounds in 26 games in 2016-17. In nearly 37.0 minutes a contest, she converted on 31.1 percent from the field while hitting close to 30.0 percent from three-point range. 

Of the 26 games started, Taylor netted double-figures in 19 of those contests, going for 20 or more points in seven of those games, highlighted by a season-high 24-point outburst against York back on February 16, 2017. She narrowly recorded a triple-double against the University of Valley Forge (Jan. 16, 2017), going for 10 points, eight assists, and eight rebounds. 

Before arriving at John Jay, Taylor was a key cog for the Camden County Community College team that ranked 13th in the country. She was also an AAU coach with the NYC Heat for two summers. She is also a member of the media team for the Monumental Baptist Church in Philadelphia. 

Taylor earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from John Jay and holds two Master's degrees from Concordia University, a Master's of Science in Coaching and Exercise Science and a Master's of Arts degree in Coaching and Athletics Administration.
