Amy Rowland is in her second season as head coach of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice women’s tennis program after leading the Bloodhounds to a 7-7 record last season and a third place finish in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC).

A native of Centerville, Ohio, Rowland is a 1997 magna cum laude graduate of Kenyon College where she was a four-year letter winner on the women’s tennis team, and helped the team to two NCAA Division III national championships during the 1995 and 1997 seasons.

In addition Rowland, who earned her masters degree in Exercise Science and Sport Studies from Smith College in 1999 and her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, is an assistant professor in the Physical Education department at John Jay.

Rowland also serves as head coach of the men’s tennis team at John Jay College where she guided the 2006 team to the conference championship match for the first time in 10 years.

Rowland resides in New York City.
