Alix Charles is in his third season as an assistant coach for the Bloodhounds.
He comes to John Jay with five years of coaching experience at the Division III level.
He served as assistant under head coach Otis Fenn at New York City College of Technology (NYCCT) from the 2005-06 season through the 2009-10 season While with the Yellow Jackets, Charles helped NYCCT earn a berth into the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) men’s basketball semifinal round during the 2007-08 season where they lost to John Jay, the eventual winner.
A Native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Charles attended Erasmus Hall High School where he was a member of the boy’s basketball team. Upon graduation from high school, Charles attended Kingsborough Community College (KCC) where he played for the men’s basketball team.
Through the years, he has earned numerous community service awards for his commitment, dedication and hardwork to the community by providing coaching and mentoring to the youth of his community through basketball.
Coach Charles likens his coaching ability as to developing talent and to motivate the student athlete to build their self-esteem and to gain more of their potential.
