Austin Voges embarks on his fourth season as head coach of the John Jay women's volleyball program.

2024 proved to be a banner year for Coach Voges and the Bloodhounds, as he guided the team to the program's first-ever CUNYAC championship, defeating Hunter College in the championship match. The team started the year off by winning seven of their first eight matches and concluded with the program's first-ever title, having won ten straight matches to finish with an overall record of 22-7, while going 6-1 in conference play. John Jay swept the CUNYAC end-of-season awards, as Josanne Lewis repeated as Player of the Year while Julia Stuart was tabbed Rookie of the Year. Coach Voges earned his first Coach of the Year honor. Perrinnial All-League performers Meghan Smith and Lewis repeated on the First Team while Madison Reyes garnered Second Team honors. The Bloodhounds ranked among the top ten in the nation in aces per set (3.08) while holding opponents to a 0.079 hitting percentage, the fourth lowest in the country. Under Voges' tutelage, Smith became the all-time leader in assists with 2.693, while Kristin Gretener finished with 908 digs, the second most in program history.
 
2023 saw the Bloodhounds make strides to become one of the top teams in CUNYAC. Following a close setback at FDU Florham in the regular season opener, Voges' club won 15 of its next 16 matches. The Bloodhounds cruised to a straight-set triumph over Lehman before upsetting perennial favorites, Baruch, 3-2, advancing to their first championship match since 2018. John Jay finished with a 19-9 overall record and an impressive 11-1 mark at The Doghouse. Lewis collected her first CUNYAC Player of the Year award, a season after clinching the CUNYAC Community College Women's Player of the Year at BMCC. She became the first player in program history to win the award after posting 322 kills, 228 digs, and 355.5 points. Hailey Waugaman was named Rookie of the Year after posting 116 kills and 143.5 points. Faith Harer collected First Team accolades for the second straight season, racking up a career-best 257 kills and finishing with 630 kills, good for second all-time in program history. Smith earned a second straight Second Team honor after recording a career-high 746 assists. The Bloodhounds ranked second in the nation in aces per set (3.52) and only trailed Juniata (3.55) in that category. John Jay finished third in the country in opponent hitting percentage (0.078) and second in team service aces (363).
 
Voges commenced his coaching tenure, winning six of the first seven matches. The Bloodhounds reached the CUNYAC semifinals for the second straight season. At season's end, the Bloodhounds garnered four All-Conference selections, with Harer being named to the First Team while Rylea Sandel and Smith earning Second Team accolades. John Jay was ranked among the top-25 in aces per set (3.04), opposing hitting percentage (0.110), and team service aces (295).

Voges came to John Jay after serving as the Director of Volleyball Operations at Garden Empire Volleyball Association. He held that role since 2017, where he was instrumental in planning and monitoring the day-to-day operations of the team, executing strategies to optimize the program's growth, and was responsible for staffing.
 
Voges possesses an extensive volleyball background, having served as the Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator at Long Island University - Brooklyn from 2021 to 2022. There, he helped usher in the men's volleyball program while being directly responsible for all aspects of the recruiting process.
 
No stranger to CUNY, Voges was the head coach of the Hunter College Hawks from 2016-18, where he won two league championships and was named Coach of the Year in 2017.
 
Voges began as the head volleyball coach of the Long Island Volleyball Club in Dix Hills, NY, in 2004. There, he served as head coach of the Boys 16 and Under National Team. Over his ten-year tenure, each of Voges' teams earned a bid to the USA Volleyball National Championship. He also worked with the USA Volleyball High Performance Program in Colorado Springs, Colorado, as well as the GEVA Region High Performance Team.
 
Voges had two stints as an assistant men's volleyball coach at Stevens Institute of Technology. In August 2020, he was elevated to the role of interim head coach following the retirement of head coach Patrick Dorywalski. The Brightwaters, NY native previously served as a men's volleyball assistant from 2010 to 2013.
 
While there, he helped lead the men's volleyball team to an NCAA Final Four appearance in 2019. In 2013, as an assistant for the women's program, Voges helped guide the squad to a perfect 7-0 league record and a regular-season conference championship.
 
He spent two years as the head coach of the boys' varsity volleyball team at Seward Park High School, as well as serving as the head coach of the Gotham Volleyball Club. Additionally, he served as the head junior varsity boys' coach and assistant varsity coach at Lindenhurst High School in Lindenhurst, NY, while also acting as a court coach and talent evaluator at the George Mason University Fred Chao High Performance and USA Volleyball High Performance Camps.
 
Voges earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Long Island University - CW Post campus in 2005. He is a CAP I and CAP II certified coach by the USA Volleyball Coaching Accreditation Program.
