Eric James is in his fourth year at John Jay and his second year as the Assistant Director for Facilities and Operations. James spent three years as the Fitness Manager before he was elevated to his current position.
 
James oversees facility management and event operations for all 15 of John Jay's varsity sports. He is directly responsible for managing the work-study student staff.
 
Before arriving at John Jay, James spent nine years as a docketing clerk at Seyfarth Shaw LLP.
 
James is no stranger to CUNY, as he served as the head women's basketball coach at fellow CUNYAC member, Medgar Evers, from 2011-2014. During his first year, he mentored Yvanna Jack, who, during the 2011-12 season, finished ninth in the country in rebounds per game at 13.8 and ranked first in the CUNYAC. In 2014-15, he guided Nia Tompkins, who ranked 17th in the nation in three-point field goals per game, as she averaged 2.84 per contest. She was also in the top 50 in steals at 2.92 per game. Kimonia Mullins finished 29th in the country in offensive rebounds per game, averaging 5.0 per game.
 
James graduated from Medgar Evers College with a degree in Business, Management, Marketing, and Relations Support Services.
