At the same time, four athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, as Canning highlighted the honorees with her second straight honor.
At the end of the 2023-24 season, eight student-athletes earned CRCA Scholastic All-American status, while Canning and Shaad Choudhury were named to the 2024 Academic All-District Team. Canning was one of Coach White’s top shooters and got an invitation to compete at the National Junior Olympic Rifle Championships in Colorado Springs, CO.
In 2022-23, Coach White led the program to a third-place finish in air rifle and a fourth-place finish in smallbore at the MAC Championships.
White comes to the Upper West Side after serving as the head coach at rival Maritime College since 2011.
During the 2017-18 season, Maritime's smallbore team captured the Sharpshooter Division Championship with a 2033-1993 victory over Plattsburgh. In 2016-17, White led the squad to a pair of championships in each discipline. In total, he recorded six MAC Championships with the Privateers.
White was named the MAC Coach of the Year in his first season, as he resurrected the .22-caliber air rifle program at Maritime after a 10-year hiatus.
He has been a competitive shooter for over 40 years. He was an All-Westchester County four-year shooter at Ossining High School. He then received a full four-year athletic scholarship to Division I St. John's University. While at St. John's, the Redmen reached the Top 10 nationally and made three NCAA championship appearances.
