Brooklyn, N.Y.- In a battle for fifth place the John Jay women's volleyball team fell to Brooklyn College, losing three straight (30-23, 30-19, 33-31) on Tuesday evening.
With the loss John Jay fell to 7-20 on the season and 4-5 in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), giving the Bloodhounds the No. 6 seed and will play at CCNY the No. 3 seed in a quarterfinal round match-up on Oct. 31.
Sara Altamirano (Bronx, NY/ John F Kennedy) led the way for John Jay with 12 kills and five digs, while Jennifer Tiburcio (New York, NY/ Louis D Brandeis) had eight kills.
Maria Pacino (Bronx, NY/ Maria Regina) chipped in with a game-high 19 assists in the loss.
The Bloodhounds will return to action for their regular season finale at the Rutgers-Newark tri-match on Sat. Oct. 28 starting at 10 a.m. The Bloodhounds will face the host school as well as Roger Williams College.
