New York, N.Y.- The John Jay women's volleyball team came away with a split in two conference matches at the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) multi-match at Hunter College on Monday. The Bloodhounds fell 3-0 (30-26, 30-26, 30-17) to Baruch College, before defeating York College (18-30, 30-27, 30-28, 30-21) in the later match.
The split leaves John Jay at 5-15 (3-4 CUNYAC) on the season.
In the opening match of the day, Sara Altimirano (Bronx, NY/ John F. Kennedy) led the way for John Jay with a team-high 16 kills and 11 digs. She also recorded two service aces in the loss. Fellow teammate Jennifer Gonzalez (Bronx, NY/ Jane Addams Vocational) slammed down seven kills and dug up four digs for the Bloodhounds. Maria Pacino (Bronx, NY/ Maria Regina) offered 25 assists as John Jay slammed 30 kills.
In the afternoon afair with York Andrea Medina (Brentwood, NY/ Brentwood) slammed down a team-high 12 kills, found four digs, and served up four service aces. Jennifer Tiburcio (New York, NY/ Louis D. Brandeis) layed down six kills, slammed five service aces and landed four digs, while Pacino added 23 assists to go along with four service aces.
The Bloodhounds will be back in action on Thu. Oct. 12 at William Paterson University at 7 p.m.
