Donovan Earns First Career Win, Bloodhounds Sweep St. Elizabeth's

New York, N.Y.-- First year head coach Leneore Donovan earned her first NCAA career win as the John Jay women's volleyball team defeated the College of St. Elizabeth's (30-16, 30-23, 30-22) at the Doghouse on Tuesday evening.

The win improves John Jay to 1-3 on the season, while St. Elizabeth's falls to 1-3.

John Jay was in command from the outset and were led by Sara Altamirano (Bronx, NY/ John F. Kennedy) who recorded a game-high 10 kills and eight service aces. The junior outside hitter also recorded a season best .318 hitting percentage in the win.

Fellow teammates Jennifer Gonzalez (Bronx, NY/ Jane Addams Vocational) and Andrea Medina (Brentwood, NY/ Brentwood) contributed with four kills a piece in the win.

Medina also had a team-high eight digs as well as four service aces for John Jay.

As a team John Jay recorded a season best .125 attack percentage, and fired 23 service aces en route to victory.

John Jay returns to action on Sat. Sept. 16 at Baruch for the CUNYAC multi-match. The Bloodhounds will square off with CCNY at 9 a.m. before doing battle with Medgar Evers College at 1 p.m.
