Box Score vs. CCNY Box Score vs. Medgar Evers
New York, N.Y.- John Jay women's volleyball opened up conference play by splitting a pair of matches at the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) multi-match at Baruch College on Saturday.
The Bloodhounds fell to CCNY (30-12, 32-30, 30-26, 30-20) before dropping Medgar Evers College in three straight (35-33, 30-20, 30-24).
The split now puts John Jay at 2-4 (1-1) on the season.
Sara Altamarino (Bronx, NY/ John F. Kennedy) led the way for the Bloodhounds with 19 kills in the loss against CCNY. Fellow teammate Maria Pacino (Bronx, NY/ Maria Regina) had 17 assists, while Andrea Medina (Brentwood, NY/ Brentwood) recorded two kills.
In the nightcap John Jay was led by Altamarino with 11 kills and three service aces, while Pacino slapped 10 service aces to go along with 21 assists. Medina and Jennifer Tiburcio (New York, NY/ Louis D. Brandeis) contributed with seven kills a piece in the win. Medina also put down five service aces.
John Jay returns to action on Tue. Sept. 19 against Hunter College, 6 p.m. at the Doghouse.
