Bloodhounds Split a Pair in Day One of Vassar Tournament

Poughkeepsie, N.Y.- The John Jay women's volleyball team went 1-1 in day one of the Vassar College tournament on Friday evening as the Bloodhounds defeated Mitchell College in three straight (30-21, 30-15, 30-24), before losing to Ramapo College (30-15, 30-8, 30-22) in the second game.

Against Mitchell the Bloodhounds attack was lead by Sara Altamirano (Bronx, NY/John F. Kennedy) with nine kills and seven digs, while Maria Pacino (Bronx, NY/Maria Regina) had 19 assists. Fellow teammates  Jennifer Gonzalez (Bronx, NY/Jane Addams Vocational) and Andrea Medina (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood) defended the Pequots advances with eight blocks and five digs.

Against Ramapo Altamirano lead with six digs and six kills, while Pacino had nine assists in the losing effort.  Medina also continued to contribute with nine digs, five kills, and two blocks.
