Women's Volleyball Loses Heartbreaker to St. Joseph’s-Patchogue

Patchogue, N.Y.— The John Jay women’s volleyball team lost by the narrowest of margins in its second game of a CUNYAC / Skyline Crossover Challenge as the Bloodhounds were defeated in five sets. John Jay lost the first two 30-27 and 30-20 before rallying back to win games three and four, 30-22 and 30-25. But the Bloodhounds lost the decisive game 15-13.
 
Sara Altamirano (Bronx, NY / John F. Kennedy) slammed 22 kills and had 27 digs in the match to go along with four service aces, while Andrea Medina (Brentwood, NY / Brentwood) had 13 kills and 28 digs.
 
Jennifer Gonzalez (Bronx, NY / Jane Addams Vocational) had 10 kills, 10 digs, three solo blocks, and four service aces.
 
Erica Lee (New York, NY / Seward Park) had 34 assists and a team-high five service aces as John Jay aced 19 serves in the match.
 
Katherine Higuera-McCoy (Jamaica, NY / St. Francis Prep) added 20 digs and John Jay posted a season-high 113 digs in the match.
 
Aura Aguilera (Bronx, NY / Pelham Prep) added a block and three block assists for John Jay.
