Old Westbury, N.Y. – The John Jay women’s volleyball team lost in four on Saturday afternoon as they fell 3-1 to SUNY Old Westbury. The Bloodhounds lost 32-30, 30-8, 25-30, and 30-24 as they fell to 0-2 on the season. Earlier in the day John Jay fell in four to USMMA.
Sara Altamirano (Bronx, NY/ Kennedy) recorded a team-high 12 kills for the Bloodhounds to go along with a team-best 11 digs. Fellow teammate Anjanette Perez (Hackensack, NJ/ Hackensack) offered 25 assists, a team-high for the Bloodhounds.
Amanda Garcia (Astoria, NY/ St. John’s Prep) and Katherine Higuera McCoy (Jamaica, NY/ St. Francis Prep) nailed five service aces in the match as Garcia also picked up seven digs. Teammate Nicole Colon (Baldwin, NY/ Baldwin) recorded nine digs for the Bloodhounds.
John Jay returns to action on Thu. Sept. 6 for their home opener against Montclair State at 6 p.m.
