Women’s Volleyball Falls in Four to USMMA

Old Westbury, N.Y. – The John Jay women’s volleyball team fell to 0-1 on the season as the Bloodhounds lost to the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in four games on Saturday, in a tri match hosted by SUNY Old Westbury.
 
John Jay lost by scores of 30-17, 31-33, 30-19, and 30-17.
 
Sara Altamirano (Bronx, NY/ Kennedy) recorded a team-high nine kills, while Jennifer Gonzalez (Bronx, NY/ Jane Addams Vocational) and Katherine Higuera-McCoy (Jamaica, NY/ St. Francis Prep) had seven kills a piece in the contest. Altamirano also had 11 digs for John Jay.
 
Anjanette Perez (Hackensack, NJ/ Hackensack), making her NCAA debut had 20 assists in the contest for the Bloodhounds who were without Andrea Medina (Brentwood, NY/ Brentwood) and Tatyana Yachnik (Bishkek, Krygyzstan/Lafayette).
 
Nicole Colon (Baldwin, NY/ Baldwin), making her NCAA debut, recorded 12 digs for the Bloodhounds.
