John Jay Women's Volleyball Sweeps SUNY Maritime

Sara Altamirano (Bronx, NY / John F. Kennedy) recorded a game-high 14 kills and a season-high .571 hitting percentage as the John Jay women’s volleyball team rolled to its third consecutive win as they defeated SUNY Maritime in three straight on Tuesday. The Bloodhounds defeated the Privateers 30-16, 30-27, and 30-24 to improve to 3-3 on the season.
 
John Jay recorded a .364 hitting percentage in the opening game to set the tempo.
 
Altamirano committed a season low two attack errors to spark the .571 percentage, as the Bloodhounds recorded a .138 attack percentage as a team. She also recorded six digs and had one block assist.
 
Jennifer Gonzalez (Bronx, NY / Jane Addams Vocational) nailed four kills in the win to go along with two blocks and three block assists. Nicole Colon (Baldwin, NY / Baldwin) chipped in with a team-high seven digs and three service aces.
 
Andrea Medina (Brentwood, NY / Brentwood), seeing her first action of the season after suffering a preseason injury, nailed three kills and had six digs in the win.
 
Setter Anjanette Perez (Hackensack, NJ / Hackensack) offered a game-high 22 assists in the victory.
 
John Jay returns to action on Thu. Sept. 13 at Western Connecticut State at 7 p.m.
