New York, N.Y.— The John Jay women’s volleyball team lost the opening conference match on Saturday as the Bloodhounds were defeated in three straight to the City College of New York (CCNY) in a match hosted by Hunter College. John Jay lost by scores of 30-12 30-18, and 30-15 to fall to 3-5 (0-1 CUNYAC) on the season.
The Beavers had control from the outset and the Bloodhounds never led past the first two points of any match.
Sara Altamirano (Bronx, NY / John F. Kennedy) led John Jay with a team-high nine kills to go along with seven digs.
Jennifer Gonzalez (Bronx, NY / Jane Addams Vocational) added five kills and a team-high three solo blocks.
Anjanette Perez (Hackensack, NJ / Hackensack) added nine assists for John Jay.
