Yachnik's 19 Kills Leads Bloodhounds over New Rochelle

New York, N.Y. --- Tatyana Yachnik slammed home 19 kills (to only two errors on 28 attempts) and had a .607 hitting percentage to lead the John Jay women’s volleyball team to victory as the Bloodhounds defeated the College of New Rochelle 3-1, in their second match of the John Jay College tri match at the Doghouse on Saturday afternoon.
 
With the win John Jay is now 3-10, while the College of New Rochelle, who lost to Kean in it’s other match today, is 0-7.
 
The Bloodhounds won by scores of 25-10, 28-26, 23-25, 25-8.
 
Yachnik had nearly half of the Bloodhounds 39 kills as John Jay had 39 kills. The junior middle blocker also chipped in with three service aces, four digs and a block assist.
 
Andrea Medina added seven kills, nine digs and three service aces, while Justyna Kopec had six kills, three service aces and three digs.
 
Erica Lee added 28 assists and a game-high 11 service aces in the win, while Katherine Higuera-McCoy had seven service aces and a game-high 11 digs.
 
The College of New Rochelle was paced by Karlene Henriques and Sherna Lee Wedderburn with three kills each. Megan Showell had five service aces, two solo blocks and nine digs for the Blue Angels.
 
John Jay returns to action on Tue. Sept. 23 for a home match against Hunter College at 6 p.m.
