Women's Volleyball Falls in Three at USMMA

Kings Point, N.Y.— The John Jay women’s volleyball team fell in three straight on the road Thursday as the Bloodhounds were defeated 3-0 to the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA). The Bloodhounds lost 25-18, 25-18, 25-9 in the contest.
 
John Jay was paced by Justyna Kopec and Andrea Medina with three kills apiece as John Jay recorded 11 kills on the evening. Fellow Bloodhounds Katherine Higuera-McCoy, Regelle Thomas, Tatyana Yachnik, Renauta Sailsman and Zadoora Carson had one kill each.
 
The Bloodhounds had a team-high nine digs from Medina, while Higuera-McCoy and Rocio Chavira had six each.
 
Kopec added two bolocking assists for the Bloodhounds, while Yachnik and Thomas had one each.
 
John Jay returns to action on Sat. Sept. 27 for the John Jay tri match. The Bloodhounds will face New Jersey City University at 11 a.m. and SUNY Old Westbury at 3 p.m.
