New York, N.Y.—The John Jay women’s volleyball team lost its first match of today at the John Jay College tri match. The Bloodhounds were defeated by New Jersey City University (NJCU) 3-0 losing by scores of 25-8, 25-15, 25-16.
In today’s opening match the Bloodhounds were paced by Tatyana Yachnik and Andrea Medina with five kills each, while Justyna Kopec added three in the contest. Katherine Higuera McCoy had a team best six digs in the contest, while Zadoora Carson had a solo block and two block assists.
NJCU was paced by Jacqueline LeBlanc with 11 kills and a .429 hitting percentage. Teammate Jennifer Hatch had five kills (no errors) with a .714 attack percentage. Gothic Knights setter Alex Johanesen had 24 assists and four digs in the contest.
Both teams will square off with SUNY Old Westbury this afternoon. NJCU’s contest is slated for 1 p.m. while John Jay will face the Panthers at 3 p.m.
