Women’s Volleyball Falls in Four to SUNY Old Westbury

New York, N.Y. --- The John Jay women’s volleyball team lost its second match of the day on Saturday as the Bloodhounds lost 3-1 to SUNY Old Westbury in the final match of the John Jay tri match at the Doghouse on Saturday afternoon.
 
With the loss the Bloodhounds are now 3-14 while SUNY Old Westbury is 4-16 overall. Earlier in the day both schools were defeated by New Jersey City University (NJCU) 3-0.
 
The Bloodhounds lost the sets by scores of 7-25, 25-13, 14-25, 16-25.
 
John Jay was led by Andrea Medina with seven kills and a .240 hitting percentage. She tallied 11 digs in the contest and served up a pair of aces.
 
Justyna Kopec contributed four kills in the match, while Erica Lee had a game-high 12 digs to go along with seven assists.
 
SUNY Old Westbury was sparked by 18 services aces, which included 11 by Siobhan West who had added 14 digs and 19 assists. Teammate Debra DePalma added six service aces, 12 assists and nine digs. Tynisha George had game-highs nine kills and 18 digs.
 
John Jay returns to action on Tue. Sept. 30 for a home match against the College of Staten Island at 6 p.m.
