New York, N.Y.— The John Jay women's volleyball team picked up a pair of critical conference wins on Monday morning as the Bloodhounds swept a pair of matches at the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) at the Hunter College Sportsplex. John Jay defeated York College 25-21, 25-13, 25-22 before downing Brooklyn College 25-16, 25-20, 25-20.
In the win over York,
Zadoora Carson (New York, NY, Urban Peace Academy) and
Justyna Kopec (Nowa Deba, Poland, Franklin D. Roosevelt) had five kills each. Kopec contributed four service aces in the win, while
Jia Li Chen (Toyshan, China, HS for Duel Language & Asian Studies) had a match-high six service aces in the contest.
Andrea Medina (Brentwood, NY, Brentwood) had four kills for the Bloodhounds.
Against Brooklyn, Kopec had a match-high 12 kills to go along with eight digs and four service aces. Medina added seven kills, 12 digs and four service aces.
Paige Figueroa (Richmond Hill, NY, St. Agnes Academy) had five kills for John Jay.
John Jay slammed 32 kills in the contest compared to 12 for Brooklyn and recorded 20 service aces in the win.
John Jay returns to action on Sat. Oct. 17 for a tri match at St. Joseph's-Long Island. John Jay will face Farmingdale State at noon before taking on the host school at 2 p.m.
