Women's Volleyball Split a Pair at St. Joseph's-Long Island Multi Match

Patchogue, N.Y.— The John Jay women's volleyball team split a pair of matches at St. Joseph's-Long Island on Saturday afternoon as the Bloodhounds lost to the host school in three straight before coming away with a five-set win over Farmingdale State in the latter match of the day.

John Jay was defeated by St. Joseph's-Long Island by scores of 25-12, 25-11, 25-10 and the Bloodhounds beat Farmingdale State 25-23, 25-18, 23-25, 15-25, 15-12. John Jay is now 6-17 overall this season.

In the match against St. Joseph's-Long Island, the Bloodhounds were led by Andrea Medina (Brentwood, NY, Brentwood), Zadoora Carson (New York, NY, Urban Peace Academy) and Aleksandra Fenik (Riga, Lativa, James Madison) with two kills each. Carson added three blocks for the Bloodhounds. Katherine Higuera-McCoy (Jamaica, NY, St. Francis Prep)had nine digs in the contest.

Against Farmingdale State, Justyna Kopec (Nowa Deba, Poland, Franklin D. Roosevelt)had 15 kills and two service aces, while Medina had 12 kills and 13 digs. Rosmery Martinez (Santo Domingo, DR, James Madison)had nine kills, while Erica Lee (New York, NY, Seward Park)had 38 assists, eight digs, two blocks and two service aces. Higuera-McCoy had nine digs.

John Jay is back in action on Tue. Oct. 20 for a contest at Medgar Evers College at 7 p.m.
