John Jay Women's Volleyball Sweeps Past Medgar Evers College

Brooklyn, N.Y.— The John Jay women's volleyball team kept their hopes alive for hosting a conference playoff quarterfinal round match as the Bloodhounds came away with a key conference win as the Bloodhounds swept Medgar Evers College 3-0 on Tuesday night.

The Bloodhounds were victorious by scores of 25-13, 25-13, 25-20 to improve to 4-4 in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play and 7-17 overall this season.

John Jay was led by Andrea Medina (Brentwood, NY, Brentwood) with 11 kills (one error) and a .435 attack percentage, while fellow teammate Justyna Kopec (Nowa Deba, Poland, Franklin D. Roosevelt) had nine kills (one error) and a .571 attack percentage. Kopec also had seven service aces and five digs in the win.

Zadoora Carson (New York, NY, Urban Peace Academy) registered six kills in the contest as John Jay recorded 36 kills in the three set win. Erica Lee (New York, NY, Seward Park)had 26 assists for John Jay and Paige Figueroa (Richmond Hill, NY, St. Agnes Academy) had three kills.

John Jay returns to action on Fri. Oct. 23 for day one of the Montclair State tournament. The Bloodhounds face the host school at 4 p.m. before taking on Manhattanville College at 8 p.m.
