vs. Montclair State vs. Manhattanville College
Upper Montciair, N.J.— The John Jay women's volleyball team lost a pair of matches on Friday evening as the Bloodhounds lost to Montclair State and Manhattanville College on the opening night of the Montclair State Classic tournament. John Jay was defeated in three straight by Montclair State (17-25, 12-25, 17-25) and lost in four to Manhattanville (27-25, 10-25, 7-25, 17-25).
In the match against Montclair State, the Bloodhounds were led by
Justyna Kopec with eight kills (one error) and a .583 attack percentage to go along with seven digs.
Fellow teammate added five kills and a team-high nine digs in the loss.
Erica Lee,
Paige Figueroa and
Siobhan West had two kills each for John Jay. West added five digs, while Lee had 12 assists.
Against Manhattanville, the Bloodhounds were led by
Paige Figueroa who had a team-high six kills (one error) and a .455 attack percentage, while
Zadoora Carson and Kopec had five kills each.
Katherine Higuera-McCoy dug up a team-high 15 digs, while Medina had 14 and West 11 and 14 assists.
John Jay is back in action on Saturday for day two at the Montclair State Classic with a match against Centenary College at 1 p.m. followed by a non conference match against CUNYAC foe Brooklyn College at 3 p.m.
