vs. Centenary vs. Brooklyn
Montclair, N.J.— The John Jay women's volleyball team went 1-for-2 on Saturday as the Bloodhounds defeated Brooklyn College 3-0 after falling to Centenary College 3-1 on the second of two days at the Montclair State Classic. The Bloodhounds beat Brooklyn 25-15, 25-16, 27-25 in the latter match and lost to Centenary College 25-17, 8-25, 12-25, 13-25 earlier in the day. Overall the Bloodhounds went 1-3 in the tournament and
Justyna Kopec (Nowa Deba, Poland, Franklin D. Roosevelt) was named to the all-tournament team.
Against Brooklyn,
Aleksandra Fenik (Riga, Lativa, James Madison)and
Jia Li Chen (Toyshan, China, HS for Duel Language & Asian Studies) had five kills each to lead the team. Fenik added a solo block and two block assists in the win.
Meanwhile Kopec and
Jessica Davies (Brawley, CA, Indio) had four kills each. Kopec, along with
Katherine Higuera-McCoy (Jamaica, NY, St. Francis Prep) had nine digs each.
Erica Lee (New York, NY, Seward Park) slammed eight service aces for John Jay.
In the match against Centenary, Kopec had seven kills, while Chen added four and nine digs.
Higuera-McCoy had 14 digs in the contest.
John Jay returns to action on Tue. Oct. 27 for their final home regular season and CUNYAC match of the season against Lehman at 6 p.m.
