Jersey City, N.J.— The John Jay women's volleyball team closed out the 2009 regular season with a loss on Thursday as the Bloodhounds were defeated by New Jersey City University (NJCU) 3-1. The Bloodhounds were defeated 17-25, 28-26, 12-25, 24-26 and finish the regular season with a 8-22 overall record.
In the regular season finale, sophomore
Justyna Kopec (Nowa Deba, Poland, Franklin D. Roosevelt) led the way with 11 kills, four service aces and nine digs, while
Rosmery Martinez (Santo Domingo, DR, James Madison)contributed with eight kills, six digs and three service aces.
Andrea Medina (Brentwood, NY, Brentwood) had seven kills and 17 digs, while
Katherine Higuera-McCoy (Jamaica, NY, St. Francis Prep)added a match-high 19 digs for the Bloodhounds.
NJCU was led by
Melissa Loo with 19 kills to go along with 13 digs, while
Tabitha Jordan added 13 kills for the host Gothic Knights.
John Jay is back in action on Tue. Nov 3 for the opening round of the 2009 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) women's volleyball championship against Hunter College at the Hunter College Sportsplex at 6 p.m.
