New York, N.Y.— The John Jay women's volleyball team opened the 2009 season with a win on Wednesday evening as the Bloodhounds defeated Yeshiva University 3-1 (22-25, 25-13, 25-11, 25-10) at Baruch's ARC Arena.
John Jay (1-0) recorded 27 service aces in the win and were led by Andrea Medina (Brentwood, NY, Brentwood) who had nine to go along with seven kills. Erica Lee (New York, NY, Seward Park) added eight service aces and had 17 assists.
Justyna Kopec (Nowa Deba, Poland, Franklin D. Roosevelt) had a game-high nine kills in the win.
John Jay returns to action on Tue. Sept. 8 at Western Connecticut State at 7 p.m.
