And the 34-point win marks the largest margin of victory by the Bloodhounds since January 27, 2002 when John Jay defeated Polytechnic University 88-38.

The Bloodhounds were led by Jerome Alexander with 37 (29 in the second half) points, six rebounds and five assists. Jamar Harry chimed in with 13 points, a game-high 19 rebounds and five steals, while Isaiah Holman scored 19. Lionel Lorquet added 10 points and nine rebounds in the win.

SUNY Maritime was led by Giovanni Hurley with 19 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and three steals, while Mike McSloy also netted 19 points.

Despite the large win, the visiting Privateers had control of the contest in the early stages. They opened the game by taking a 20-12 lead and were up by that amount with 10:09 to play in the first half.

But the Bloodhounds answered with a 7-0 run to pull to within a point and trailed 20-19 with 6:31 to play.

The Privateers held a tenuous lead going into the latter stages of the first half. John Jay held the lead and went into halftime up 33-30.

The Bloodhounds never gave up the lead in the second half and pulled away like a tour de force. They increased the lead rapidly in the early stages of the stanza using a 16-3 run to take a 49-33 lead with 15:47 remaining.

John Jay upped the lead to 20 with 12:33 to go on a Harry lay-up.

The Privateers quietly cut the deficit and got to within 11 with 8:05 to go as John Jay led 68-57 at that point.

But the Bloodhounds outscored the Privateers 34-11 over the final eight minutes.

John Jay led 73-61 with six minutes to play before going on a 27-2 run to put the game away. They led 100-63 with 1:08 to go before the final buzzer sounded giving them their most dominating win of the season.

John Jay forced SUNY Maritime into 29 turnovers and outscored the Privateers 37-10 on points off turnovers, including a 27-8 margin in the second half.
