Newark, N.J.— The John Jay women's volleyball team was defeated by Rutgers-Newark University in three straight, losing by scores of 25-15, 25-14, 25-15 on Tuesday evening.
With the loss John Jay is 0-3 overall this season.
The Bloodhounds were led by Martina Hot (Glendale, NY, Academy of American Studies) and Justyna Kopec (Nowa Deba, Poland, Franklin D. Roosevelt) with three kills each. Hot also contributed with a pair of service aces, while Rosmery Martinez (Santo Domingo, DR, James Madison) had 10 digs.
Toni Moppert led Rutgers-Newark with nine kills.
John Jay returns to action on Sat. Sept. 11 at the City University of New York Athletic Conference multi-match. The Bloodhounds will face CCNY at 3 p.m. and the College of Staten Island at 5 p.m. at York College.
