Bronx, N.Y.— The John Jay men's basketball team lost a conference affair on the road Friday evening as the Bloodhounds lost to Lehman College 83-55 at the Lehman College Apex.
With the loss, John Jay is 5-9 (0-3 CUNYAC) this season.
The Bloodhounds led briefly in the contest after scoring five of the first six points of the game.
But the host Lightning went on a 13-0 run to take a 14-5 lead with 14:48 to go and Lehman never trailed again in the contest.
Lehman led by as much as 14 in the first half and went into halftime with a 13-point lead at 40-27.
The Lightning opened play in the second half on a 7-0 run to take a 47-27 lead with 1:56 gone by.
John Jay never managed to get to within 17 points of the lead after that. Then while leading 49-32, Lehman used a 17-5 run to take a 66-37 lead with 8:19 to go and put the game out of reach.
The Lightning led by as much as 30 points in the second half before the game ended.
John Jay was led by
Jerome Alexander with 18 points to go along with six rebounds, while
Matt Collins added 11 points. Lehman was led by Samuel Batista with 23 points.
John Jay returns to action on Wed. Jan. 12 for a home contest against the City College of New York at 7 p.m.
