Staten Island, N.Y.— The John Jay women's volleyball team picked up its first win of the season as the Bloodhounds split a pair of matches at the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Multi Match on Monday morning.
In the opening match, John Jay picked up a 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-18) win over Medgar Evers to improve to 1-19 (1-5 CUNYAC) this season. Then in the latter match, the Bloodhounds fell to Baruch College 3-0 (25-5, 25-7, 25-17).
In the win over Medgar Evers, the Bloodhounds were led by
Kathleen Estevez with 10 kills, to go along with four digs and two service aces. Meanwhile fellow teammate,
Martina Hot added five kills and three service aces.
Dulce Aybar landed six service aces, while
Hakimah Lovell-McFee had five kills (.444 hitting percentage).
Medgar Evers was led by Janiece Hill with five kills, while Yvanna Jack had eight digs.
In the match against Baruch, Hot had six kills, while Estevez had two.
Katherine Bonilla and
Rocio Chavira had five digs.
Baruch was led by Jessica Wu with 11 kills (.529 hitting percentage) and 11 digs, while Rebecca Peralta and Jacqueline Dugas had eight kills.
